25th of November Gentosha a Japanese publisher just released the novel titled "Donau no sakebi, Wagner Nandor monogatari" The Cry of Danube - the life story of Wagner Nándor in Japanese. The novel was written by Shimomura, Touru who has researched the life of the sculptor for several years and also he has visited some of the beloved places of the artist. 6th of October - Székesfehérvár On the National Mourning Day the wrench of remebering was placed togather with Mrs. Chiyo Wagner at Corpus Hungaricum. The ribbon of our wrench read "Do not offend but do remember". We were remebering both the 1849 martyrs and the artist of the monument. Pictures of the day |
Felsőbánya - Romania Our Foundation was supporting the third time of the Summer Landscape Painting Camp in Felsőbánya a picturesque mining settlement. Mrs. Chiyo Wagner visited the camp and met the painters and head of the camp the Munkácsy prize winner master painter Ágoston Véső. The DVD about Nándor Wagner's life was shown. Also a short report was made to introduce the activities and the visiting guests. (in Hungarian) |

Mashiko, 6th of June The statue of Hammurapi (Nándor Wagner 1987) who was the sixth king of Babylon (ca. 1795 – 1750 BC middle chronology). He became the first king of the Babylonian Empire, extending Babylon's control over Mesopotamia by winning a series of wars against neighboring kingdoms. |
May Day The Wagner Nándor Prizes were presented to the art students of Partium Christian University for the third time in Nagyvárad. The competition poster theme was: The Anthology Holnap is hundred year old. Winners: 1st prize Mr. Zsolt Hátszegi 2nd prize Mr. István-Dániel Vasil 3rd prize shared Ms. Enikő Deák and Ms. Emese-Zselyke Groos. Congratulations! |
15th April - 15th May Spring Exhibition in Mashiko Wagner Nandor Art Galery. This time the variations of Lao-Tse will be presented to the public. Wagner sculpted more than a dozen of different terracotta figures is several positions and with varied face expression. |
19th of February Documentary film has been made by Mr. Béla Szobolits producer about stealing statues, art pieces and other valuable things like forest in Hungary. The 55 minute documentary film will be shown in the second half of the year. |
End of the year May we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The police closed the case of the stolen statues. We appriciate your kind support extended to us during this difficult period. May we express our goal that the missing statues will come back to the Gellert Hill on the 18th of Coctober, 2009 which is the day to remember the signing of the first diplomatic agreement with Japan in 1869 and also the unveiling ceremony of the Garden of Philosophy in Budapest 2001. |
